As part of our commitment to encouraging engagement with Scripture and fostering theological reflection, we are pleased to offer this Pride Month Bible Study Guide for individuals and groups written by Rev. Agge Angusson of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden.
We do so in recognition of the diverse realities surrounding gender identity and sexual orientation across our societies, churches, and campuses. While significant progress has been made in some contexts, many LGBTQIA+ people continue to experience exclusion, discrimination, and misunderstanding. These challenges are often shaped by cultural norms, historical prejudices, and interpretations of Scripture that have contributed to the marginalisation of women and LGBTQIA+ persons. The consequences can include social isolation, violence, barriers to participation, mental health struggles, and the denial of fundamental dignity and rights.
As WSCF-Europe is committed to justice, inclusion, and social transformation, we believe that every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and love. We understand the pursuit of gender justice and the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people as deeply connected to our Christian calling to build communities marked by compassion, equality, and belonging.
Through these Bible studies, we invite everyone to engage in thoughtful biblical and theological reflection during Pride Month. The sessions are designed to encourage dialogue, critical engagement with Scripture, and a deeper exploration of God’s call to justice, love, and affirmation. Grounded in a vision of communities shaped by mutual respect and solidarity, these resources explore inclusive perspectives on faith and identity while creating space for honest conversation and learning.
We hope this guide will support student movements, churches, and ecumenical communities in reflecting on how the Gospel calls us to welcome, affirm, and uphold the dignity of all people.
